Living with the residual effects of stroke

Living with the residual effects of stroke is part of my life. The stroke changed my life and I live daily with the residual effects of it.
It is hard to believe that it is over 28 years since I had the CVA (Cerebral Vascular Accident), which caused the stroke in 1987. The good thing is I am still here and still face the many challenges of living daily with the residual affects of stroke. Some are difficult, frustrating and stressfull but mostly a solution can be found and although not always funny at the time often gives a good laugh later.
My latest venture is getting a new wheelchair accessible vehicle so I will be able to drive from my wheelchair in order to be less dependent upon friends who are growing older and faster than me although I am not that far behind. This hasn’t been without its problems and people tell me to write another book only no one would believe it. I thought I would give Blogging or even Vlogging a try rather than another book but I’ll leave telling the tale of the car until another time.

Family and friends make life a joy as do the activities I am still involved in such as a pre-school music and movement program which is run weekly at my local church, I am the IT person, and the various other computer activities which allow me to help others. My pets are also growing older, sleep more and want to eat more but are still very playful when they feel the need. Then there are the diets that never work and the exercises people suggest you do forgetting it isn’t quite so easy if not impossible from a wheelchair. Laughter I find is still the best tonic for a healthy life style and not taking some things too seriously.

My advice to anyone whether it is be stroke or anything else that life throws up is to never give up no matter how dark things might seem as there is always hope, a new day, a new challenge and much for which to give thanks.

‘For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
Jeremiah 29:11 New International Version of the Bible
